Why English words don’t always sound the way they look
Words like comfortable and chocolate look like they should have more syllables than they actually do. But when people speak naturally, they often drop a syllable in the middle and this happens with lots of other words too. Say every syllable you see and your pronunciation can sound a little off.
In this Mini English Lesson, Jo explains why this happens and shows you lots of words where a syllable simply disappears when we speak. Once you start dropping these extra syllables, before you know it your English will sound much more natural.
