360 No Scope – A trickshot where a player spins 360 degrees and shoots an enemy without using the scope, usually in a first-person shooter game.
AFK – Away From Keyboard; when a player is temporarily inactive.
BR – Battle Royale; a multiplayer game mode where the last player standing wins.
Buff – An enhancement to a game character’s abilities.
Debuff – A reduction in a game character’s abilities.
FPS – Frames Per Second (how many images are shown every second in a video or game, making it look smoother) or First-Person Shooter.
Frag – To kill an enemy, usually in a shooter game.
GG EZ – Good Game, Easy. Used to taunt after a victory.
Git Gud – A slang phrase telling someone to improve their skills or “get good” at the game. Often used sarcastically.
Hitbox – The invisible area around a game character that detects amount of damage.
K/D Ratio – Kill/Death Ratio; a measure of competitive gaming performance.
Lag – Game delay due to network issues.
Meta – The most effective tactics available in a game.
Noob Tube – A beginner-friendly grenade launcher in shooter games.
NPC – Non-Playable Character.
RNG – Random Number Generator; the system that decides hit points or amount of damage.
SMH – Shaking My Head; often used to express disbelief or disappointment.
Tilt – Frustration leading to poor performance.
Toxic – Describes a negative or hostile player.
YOLO – You Only Live Once; often used when taking a big risk in online games.
