Your challenge:

Write 500–700 words on My English Online journey: How learning English changed my life.

We’d love to hear about how studying with English Online has made a positive difference in your life.

Your story matters, whether it’s helping you achieve your career goals, enhancing your study plans, enriching your travel experiences, connecting you with new friends, or boosting your confidence in English. Please share honestly and personally and let your unique personality shine through. 

Share your personal experience in an informal, engaging way – something people will enjoy reading from start to finish.

Prize:

Three winners will receive a 1:1 session with a British Council expert on a topic of their choice. The winning story will also be published on our blog page and read by millions of users.

Deadline:

Sunday 7 September 2025, midnight UK time.

What happens next:

  • – Write 500–700 words.
  • – Save your entry as a Microsoft Word file.
  • – Email it to eolmarketing@britishcouncil.org with English Online: 5-year anniversary Writing Competition in the subject line.
  • – Our content team will review all entries and announce the winner in the September edition of the student newsletter.
